CALL TO ORDER:

Chairman Lance Roman called the meeting of the Planning Commission to order at 7:35 PM

ROLL CALL:

Present were Sue Nichols, John Peppler, Kent Kelly, Bill Stege, Lance Roman and Fred Missad.   Lois Saltzman was absent.

AGENDA:  

Approved as written.

.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

John Peppler moved the minutes be approved with a correction.  Fred Missad supported.  Motion carried unanimously.

 CORRESPONDENCE:

There was no correspondence.

 TOWNSHIP BOARD REPORT:

 Kent Kelly gave a report on the December 15 regular Township Board meeting.  Kent provided copies of the minutes of the meeting for the Commission to peruse.  A copy is filed with these minutes.

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS:

There was no meeting of the ZBA

ZONING ADMINISTRATORS REPORT:

 Bob Hawley reported that he had issued one permit in December.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. The annual election of new officers was held.  The officers for the coming year are:  Lance Roman, Chairman, John Peppler Vice Chairman, and Sue Nichols Secretary.

2. Dick Figura is working on verbiage of the proposed vehicle sign ordinance.  The Commission is hopeful this item will be completed in the next couple months.

3. Lance provided copies of the proposed property ordinance and permit check lists and asked the Commission members to please review and have comments and suggestions ready for the February Commission meeting. It was suggested that Lance add a Health Department section to the septic and well permit section and to add an area for the Public Safety review on the site plan review summary page.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

1 & 2. Lance spoke with John Rockwood regarding the Glen Lake Association’s work on hillside development standards.  Rockwood has spoken with some of the property owners but they have made no further progress at this time.

Item b pertaining to the use of natural vegetation strips along shorelines is being removed from the Planning agenda.

3.  Developing Uniform Lake Regulations on Glen Lakes:  In order to discuss item #3, the commission needs to read over Empire’s ordinance for lake regulations.

4.  Sue Nichols will provide information for the February meeting on the issue of adopting a minimum square footage for buildings used for businesses.

There will be a presentation from Victor Goldsmith on windmills at the February meeting.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

COMMISSION MEMBER COMMENTS: 

Commission member Kent Kelly felt there might be a need to consider an ordinance regarding street vendors.  Bob Hawley commented that we have enough ordinances in place to prevent street vendors from being a problem.

The meeting of the Glen Arbor Planning Commission was adjourned at 8:25 PM.
